Birth Services
They came to her house and took her baby away!
After full prenatal care, we had transferred to the hospital for fetal distress in labor. We provided a copy of the chart. The baby was born safely, quickly, vaginally, unmedicated and easily 45 minutes after we got to the hospital. Mom asked for 3 minutes delayed cord clamping but doc insisted no skin to skin while we wait the ACOG-approved only 30 sec of delayed cord clamping due to "risk of jaundice". 9, 9 apgars. Mom's not bleeding and declines postpartum pitocin but doc insists and orders nurse to hang 20units of pit in a bag of iv fluids. Baby nurses. Pedi checks baby out and discusses eye ointment and vit k. Mom declines both. Staff and parents have pleasant exchanges and discussions. At 5 hours post birth mom and dad sign ama and head home.
12 hours post birth CPS removes the baby from the home via ambulance because they received report baby was in imminent harm of a brain bleed due to mom declining vitamin k and because mom and baby are different blood types. Mom is told she can't see her baby and must show up at court 24 hours post birth for custody hearing.
I have lost faith in the system! I had heard stories but had never seen such retaliation, punishment and abuse in action! My heart is breaking!
