Photo - NEW UPDATE!!!
Alma Ortiz
I'm sure many of you remember Alma's search for her siblings.
Sometimes in an adoption search....things can be very difficult.
Collusion on the part of the agency to assimilate a child into the "new" family, memories removed, or possible alienation tactics from adopter's are all part of this very difficult process.
An adopted child goes thru many difficult experiences.
Quite often they believe the lies they have been told. Every kid wants to be loved. There may be painful memories or an effort by the child to escape the trauma of a painful separation by shutting down or shutting out the family of origin.
Alma has been told in no uncertain terms that a relationship with her is not wanted.
I was horrified, not at the brother's message to her.....but by the pain and grief that were so apparent in her message to me.
It was a slap in the face to her dream of a relationship with siblings she had searches for for 14 years.
I offered my wisdom and comfort to Alma. Letting her know that the first reaction of an adoptee is not necessarily the permanent reaction.
I asked her to allow time for her brother to process and come to terms with new information that he had no idea was coming.
This is a very painful process for all families of origin, adoptee's AND adopter's.
At this time I am asking for prayer, love and support for Alma and her adopted siblings.
She will update us again but she needs some time right now.
Thank you to each person who stands with Alma and all siblings of origin.
We(families of origin, adopters, the agencies and lawmakers that created this nightmare) must ALL stand together at a table of compromise, healing and love to assist these children of adoption(on both sides).
