Photo - Yesterday I had a conversation with Senator Ron Sharp at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

I asked him for his position on Open Adoption Records.

He told me that adopters aren't going to adopt if they feel that they are going to lose their investment when the child turns 18. That the state has a hard enough time finding adopters and no move should be made to discourage potential adopters from coming forward to adopt.

I asked him if the rights of adopters were more important than grieving family of origin.

He said once they give up their child for whatever reason their rights end.

I told him not every family of origin just handed away their child.

He told me that if Jason Murphey could write legislation that protects the rights of adopters, adoptees and other interested parties....he would give consideration to supporting it.

Thank you to Senator Sharp for taking a moment to speak with me on the very important issue of #OklahomaOpenAdoptionRecords.

I want to encourage you to contact your state lawmakers about #OpenAdoptionRecords in your state.

Getting this type of legislation passed where you live is a very important tool we must leave for our #TAKEN children to be able to have to find us.

Your lawmaker does not know what is important to you unless you tell them!
Regularly contact YOUR State Representatives and State Senators.
