America's #Taken
Do you know a parent in crisis? An elder in need? A neighbor who could benefit from a few moments of your time? What can you do RIGHT NOW to assist? There is something you can do. 1. Listen. 2. Offer assistance such as food, a skill, your knowledge, time. 3. Educate yourself to resources in your area. By knowing what is available, you can help a person in need . 4. Learn who your lawmakers are and what our constitutional rights are. You cannot help someone fight for their rights if you don't know what they are. 5. Know your neighbor. Is there an elder near you who could benefit from one hot meal a week, prepared by you? 6. Volunteer. There are endless services in need of actual physical labor. Food bank, a park, a nearby nursing home. There are so many of our elders who are alone, lonely, and would love to have a visit. 7. Teach someone to read. 8. Learn a second language. 9. Take the time to teach and learn. Everyone is a student or a teacher at one time or another. 10. Know that no effort is wasted, acts done in kindness are the most rewarding.
