America's #Taken
Sample letter to lawmakers: Representative Russell, I am writing you today because I am concerned about the issues of incentivized adoption, and the rehoming of those children after the adopters realize they cannot handle or do not want these children. I understand that the adoption incentives were created in Washington D.C. by lawmakers such as yourself. I want you to know I am not satisfied with the adoption industry that has flourished since the Adoption and Safe Families act was created in 1997. I do not feel there should be financial incentive to adopt a child. Adoption is for orphans. The Adoption and Safe Families Act has changed the mission of child protection agencies from protecting children to finding adoptable children for the adoption market. I am hopeful you will consider this in any future vote you give to the Adoption and Safe Families Act. The issue of rehoming of adopted children is a disgusting practice that adopters are now using to rid themselves of an unwanted adopted child. I will remind you that these adopters continue to receive the adoption subsidy long after they rehome the child. Again my feeling of repulsion that a human being is being rehomed like a cat or dog, is something i want to make loud and clear to you. This aspect of the adoption incentives has created "career adopters". Persons who get the adoption subsidy for a child they have cast off and then new subsidy's for the new adoptee's they bring into their home. I do not feel adoption in the United States should be subsidized. The Adoption and Safe Families Act took a beloved child out of our lives, and I sincerely hope you will consider the horrible outcomes for these children because of the funding. Now thousands of American children have been bartered for Title IV and Adoption Incentive Funding. Serious revisions need to be made to stop this crime against families in our country Thank you for your careful consideration of this matter. Sincerely, #TAKEN #AmericasTakenChildren #SampleLetterToLawmakers
