Photo - Being an advocate sometimes means going many days without good news. The tragedy of grieving family and #TAKEN children seems endless at times. Every once in a while though we hear some news that makes the heart leap, brings a smile to our faces, and gives us the strength to continue on in our fight for #TAKEN children and their families of origin. That happened for me today in the best possible way. I have worked with this dad as admins in Nationwide, and I'm fairly certain He has been in this cause as long as I have. I've watched him go thru one CPS case, and then have his children snatched back into custody(not because of him). I have seen him in the depths of despair as his precious daughter was placed in a group home setting. I have watched him advocate, teach, and support other parents. He is a true soldier in the cause of #TAKEN children. Today his son, who was also in custody, was unexpectedly returned to him. Shawn has a message for parents still fighting their CPS case and I'd like to share it with you because it's very important to never stop fighting for our #TAKEN children. In his own words: Sooo.... this morning before we got our new President my phone started ringing... I look at it and it's CPS calling.... of course you all know that gut-wrenching feeling when you get these calls... anyhow I wrestled with the idea of answering it because I JUST wasn't in the mood for dealing with their shit today... but SOMETHING told me to answer it anyhow.... so I answer it for the case worker to start off saying "I'm not sure if you've heard anything about this yet but" (which made my heart drop as I was thinking the worst...) she continued..." But we received a court order today ordering your son back in your custody!!" " he was released to you on the 17th.... (which meant i couldve brought him home with me wednesday when i visited!!) you can pick him up today at 2:30!!" I GOT MY SON BACK!!!! WOOOHOO!!! THIS IS SUCH A GOOD DAY!!!! HALF MY BATTLE IS OVER!!! I'VE STILL GOT TO KEEP FIGHTING TO GET MY DAUGHTER HOME!!! BUT IT'S DEFINITELY A START!!! So... to ALL you loving families in this battle as I am and have been in... DON'T EVER GIVE UP!!! JUST WHEN ALL LOOKS SO GRIM AND YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO GET YOUR KIDS HOME!!! THINGS LIKE THIS CAN AND WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!! THAT'S WHY I DO WHAT I DO FOR THIS GROUP AND WITH MY RADIO SHOW!!! I'M HERE TO INFORM AND SUPPORT OTHERS THAT ARE IN THE SAME SHOES I AM!! I WANT US ALL TO HAVE OUR FAMILIES HOME AND FOR US ALL TO BE HAPPY FAMILIES!!! I WILL NEVER STOP WHAT I'm doing in this group, other groups , and my radio show!!! Until we get some MAJOR REFORMS OR COMPLETELY OBOLISH THIS EVIL ENTITY!!!!
